1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
In Christ, we are royal priests, a treasured group of individuals consecrated to God. Our purpose is to dedicate our lives to his glory. The very way we conduct our lives and behavior should glorify God and bear good fruit for his Kingdom. Our souls have been brought out of darkness, brought out of the shadows and into his light.
The Spirit will guide and shape us on our journey. The Apostle Paul assures us of this.
2 Corinthians 3:18
18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Eugene Peterson captures the thought nicely in his translation of the 2 Corinthians passage.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (MSG)
18And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him.
The Holy Spirit will work with us to spiritually morph our hearts and minds towards Christ-likeness over time. Together with the help of the Spirit and Scripture, we will become something amazing as we progress through our lives.
