I really like Eugene Peterson’s translation of Psalm 1:2. Rather than translating the Hebrew Hagah as meditate, he renders it as Chew on. So in The Message, Psalm 1:2 reads as:
Instead you thrill to God’s Word; you chew on Scripture day and night.
When you find yourself in that place, where you wake up in the morning and cannot wait to dig into Scripture, life is deep joy.
