In this portion of the image we see the hands of Christ. Out of the holes in his hands come His Body and His Blood which he has given for me.
When I read Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me, I immediately go to the Sacrament of Holy Communion. In doing so, I first think back to the Day of Atonement described in Leviticus and then onto the Book of Hebrews in the New Testament.
For me Jesus is the new, superior High Priest on the order of Melchizedek. Rather than an animal sacrifice, Jesus the high priest is himself the sacrifice. He is also the scapegoat. This is a superior priesthood, a superior sacrifice and I enjoy the benefit of His presence at the meal he has prepared for me.
I look forward to the day when all believers will feast together with Christ in the Kingdom of the Father.
