1. We begin with Jesus. Jesus, the bread from heaven, the one who God the Father sent.
Jesus, the in-the-flesh servant, gives of himself. I show him pulling a piece of unleavened bread out of his body leaving a hole. You can read this action in a lot of different ways. In this image I am using unleavened bread to suggest the sinless nature of our Lord. He is giving of himself to us.
2. The piece of unleavened bread is at the center of the mandala. A scroll which was embedded in the unleavened bread comes out of the bread and enters into my mind. It is at this point in the image where the concept of bread shifts from physical sustenance to spiritual sustenance.
3. The scroll is Jesus, the Word. I come to Jesus. I feast on him. In simple terms, I feed on the Word. I feed on His Word, who he is, what he has done, and what he is doing. The dove in my chest represents the Holy Spirit within me.
The Holy Spirit does many things for me. In the context of the image, he is helping me digest the scroll. The Holy Spirit enables me to understand the Word.
If I could do one thing to grow as a disciple of Christ I would spend time feasting on Scripture.
I do feast on it. I digest it, it becomes part of me. I am spiritually sustained, but I also learn and grow. Ultimately, I am becoming more Christ-like, bit by bit.
4. Slowly I become Salt and Light. I become just a little bit more like Jesus with time.
I am Thankful.
