Here’s the breakout of the double image.
The form can be read two different ways: On the left we have Adam, kneeling down in the water with his head on his left knee. He is reflected in the water.
On the right we have the Hand of God holding up Adam’s head and looking at His work in progress. What was the reflection of Adam’s right leg in the water now becomes God’s pinky finger. Similarly, what was Adam’s left leg and it’s reflection in the water together become God’s somewhat elongated thumb.
You can roughly duplicate the figure on the right by making an old school peace sign with your right hand and then pick up a walnut sized object using only your thumb, index and ring fingers. Hold the walnut up to level and you have it.
Adam’s body and God’s hand are deeply and intimately fused together.
This creates a very profound meaning for us.
In Part 4, we look at Isaiah 49:16 to explore the meaning further.
