This is a Christian Mandala I did several years ago before I knew what Christian Mandalas were. The image is a snapshot of the biblical account of Creation on Day 6. Cosmic dust is still settling.
The image is full of Christian Symbols.
Mainstream symbols include: A dove, butterflies, snakes, apples, a lamb, fish, water and dolphins.
A little less mainstream: Bullocks, i.e., young bulls or steers.
Unknown: Seahorses. I don’t know why I included them, but they are there.
The mandala, like all good mandalas, has a central point on which everything is focused. In this case, we see a strange white form coming out of the water.
In Part 2, we will look more deeply at the center of the mandala and again introduce Surrealist techniques and Scripture to explain the deep meaning embedded in this form.
